MUSCLES Flashcards
learn muscles
4 muscles in quadricep
Rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vatus medialis, vatus intermedius.
3 muscles in hamstring
Bicep femoris, semimembranosus, semitendinosus
Lower leg (front)
Tibialis anterior
Lower leg (back)
Soleus, gastrocnemius
Hip flexor (from bottom up)
Adductor magnus, adductor longus, adductor brevis
Main hip flexor muscle
Illiopsoas
Weird muscle for knee and hip flexion
Sartorius
3 Bum muscles (from bottom up)
Gluteus minimus, gluteus maximus, gluetus medius
ABS
Abdominals
Booby muscles (2 of them ;))- bottom up
Pectoralis major, pectoralis minor
Function of pectorals
Shoulder Flexion: reaching up or forward.
Shoulder Adduction: doing a hugging motion.
Internal Rotation of the Arm: Rotating your arm inward toward your body.
Needed pushing actions, like when you push something away or perform exercises like push-ups or bench presses.
What is by the scapular?- what does it do
Subscapularis- Internal Rotation of the Arm: It rotates the arm inward, toward the body
Stabilizing the Shoulder Joint: helps hold the head of the humerus (upper arm bone) in the shoulder socket, maintaining shoulder stability during movements.
essential for movements that involve pushing or rotating the arm inward.
2 arm muscles
Biceps brachii, tricep brachii
What does teres minor do
External Rotation of the Arm: It helps rotate the arm outward, away from the body.
Stabilizing the Shoulder Joint: helps keep the head of the humerus (upper arm bone) securely in the shoulder socket during arm movements.
important for shoulder stability and movements like reaching backward or rotating the arm outward.
What does teres major do
Shoulder Extension: Moving the arm backward, similar to pulling movements.
Shoulder Adduction: Bringing the arm down toward the side of the body.
Internal Rotation of the Shoulder: Rotating the arm inward toward the body.
The teres major works closely with the latissimus dorsi to help with pulling and stabilizing movements of the arm.
