Muscles Flashcards
What are the intrinsic muscles of the larynx?
-Cricoarytenoideus dorsalis
-Cricoarytenoideus lateralis
-Cricothyroideus
-Thyroarytenoideus
What does the cricothyroideus muscle do?
Tenses vocal fold
Where is the cricothyroideus attach?
Cricoid cartilage to the thyroid lamina
What is the cricothyroid muscle innervated by?
Cranial laryngeal nerve (branch of vagus)
What does the cricoarytenoideus dorsalis do?
Opens the glottis, abduction of the vocal fold
Where are the attachments of the CAD muscle?
Dorsolateral surface of cricoid cartilage to the muscular process of arytenoid cartilage

Digastricus
What are the attachments of the temporalis and function? Innervated by?
-Temporal fossa –> coronoid process of mandible
-Close jaw
-Trigeminal/CN5
What are attachments of masseter? Function? Innervation?
-Zygomatic arch –> ramus of mandible
-Close jaw
-Trigeminal/ CN5
What are attachments of pterygoid? Function? Innervated by?
Pterygopalatine fossa –> Ramus of mandible
Close jaw
Trigeminal/CN5
Digastricus attachment? Innervation? Function?
Paracondylar process of occipital bone –> body of mandible
