EYE Flashcards
What are the 3 tunics of the eye?
External fibrous coat
Middle Vascular coat
Internal coat (sensory)
What parts are part of the fibrous tunic?
Cornea, Sclera, Corneoscleral junction (limbus)
What part is the vascular coat made of?
Uvea= iris, ciliary body, choroid (tapetum lucidum)
What is part of the sensory internal tunic?
Retina, optic disc, fundus
Flow of aqueous humor in the chambers of the eye
Posterior–> Anterior chambers
Vitreous chamber filled with vitreous body
What is the periorbita?
The cone shaped connective tissue surrounding the eye
What is the periorbita?
A cone shaped sheath of connective tissue and smooth muscle that encloses the eyeball and muscles, vessels, and nerves
Lacrimal gland
Small, flat, lobular structure lying on the medial side of orbital ligament within the periorbita
What is the levator palpebrae superioris innervated by ?
Oculomoter nerve
What are the 7 extrinsic muscles of the eyeball?
2 obliquus muscles
4 rectus muscles
1 retractor bulbi
Where do the extrinsic muscles insert
Insert on fibrous coat of eyeball, sclera, near the equator
Where do the rectus muscles insert closer to?
Near the corneoscleral junction
What are the retractor bulbi and lateral rectus innervated by
Abducens nerve 6
What are the dorsal, medial, and ventral rectus innervated by?
Oculomotor Nerve
Dorsal oblique is innervated by what
Trochlear nerve 4
