Muscle Contraction Flashcards
What regulated tryptomyosin?
Regulated by toponin, Ca availability regulated toponin
When the are high amounts of Ca- contraction.
How does Ca regulate troponin?
Calcium binds troponin causing a confrontational change to move tryptomyosin. Myosin II binds actin filaments causing a contraction
Where is calcium stored in the cell? And when is it released?
Stores in the sacroplasmic reticulum
Released when there is a signal from the neuron.
Calcium moves to sacroplasmic reticulum using active transport during muscle contraction
What happens in cell crawling and what are the two types?
Requires a dynamic MF
Polymerization: extension of cell
Motor protein driven: squeeze action to bring up rear of the cell.
What does tryptomyosin do?
Blocks myosin actin binding
