Multiple Regression Flashcards
Which SPSS tables are used for simple regression?
ANOVA
Model summary
Coefficients
When do we use multiple regression?
When predicting more than 1 measure is related to the outcome variable
What is the equation for multiple regression?
Y = a + b1*x1 + b2+x2
What are the two types of multiple regression?
Standard multiple regression and hierarchical regression
How are standard multiple regression entered?
Simultaneously
How is hierarchical multiple regression entered?
In steps
What tables is needing for standard multiple regression?
ANOVA
Coefficient
Model summary
What is multiple R?
Multiple correlation coefficient (R in model summary table).
In multiple regression what is B (unstandardized coefficient)?
Constant is intercept (A)
The number or numbers below are the slopes (b) for the two or more variables.
What is SE?
Std. Error in the coefficient table but it’s the standard deviation of the distribution of the sample b-values for each predictor.
What is beta?
Standardized regression coefficient.
It tells the number of SD that the outcome will change as a result of one SD change in the predictor.
Why are beta and r different in multiple regression?
Because in multiple regression beta concerns the unique contribution of the predictor, excluding any overlap with other predictors, and so it cannot be the same value as r.
What do you report in a multiple regression table?
N (above table)
B
SE
Beta
And Constant Predictor 1 Predictor 2 R^2
In hierarchical regression what numbers do you need from model summary?
R squared, adjusted R squared and R squares change.
