What is MEN 1?

A

AD gene mutation located on chromosome 11 that leads to tumours of (3 Ps):
1. Pituitary tumour (10-20%): prolactinoma, GH secreting tumour, ACTH secreting, non-hormone secreting

  1. Pancreatic islet tumours (60-70%)
  2. Parathyroid (primary hyperparathyroidism - 90%)

A

Medullary carcinoma of thyroid (90%)
Phaeochromocytoma (40-50%)
Parathyroid hyperplasia (10-20%)
