Multimedia - Displays Flashcards
1
Q
List the 3 types of monitor Displays
A
- Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)
- Liquid Crystal Diode (LCD)
- Light Emitting Diode (LED)
2
Q
Describe the Characteristics of CRT - Cathode Ray Tube Monitors
A
- Electroguns causes electrons to collide with the phosphorescent screen and makes the dots glow to create an image
- Electroguns are glass shell vacuum tubes
- Monintor doesn’t worsen with age
- Cheap
- Quick response time
3
Q
Describe Characteristics of LCD - Liquid Crystal Diode
A
- More modern form of CRT
- Emits electrons which light up the fluorescent coated monitor screen
- Fluorescent panel determines how many electrons pass through, this creates the shapes of objects
- Smaller space, less energy, affordable
4
Q
Describe Characteristics of LED - Light Emitting Diode
A
- Improved LCD, created to eliminate LCD problems
- uses light emitting diode instead of cathode ray
- increases sharpness of the image
- high quality images with vibrant colours
- less energy consumption
- less eye strain
5
Q
Define Resolution
A
The number of pixels contained on a monitor
- high resolution = sharper image
- low resolution will look better on a smaller scale
Common Resolutions: 1920 x 1080 || 1280x720 || 3840x2160
