Imperatives of Operations
See yourself and enemy IOT understand OE
Constant observation
Exploit advantages
Initial contact is with smallest element possible
Impose multiple dilemmas
Anticipate, plan, execute
Designate, weight, sustain main effort
Consolidate gains
Understand, manage effects of ops on units, soldiers
3 Models to build operational framework
- Assigned areas
- Deep, close, and rear ops
- Main effort, supporting effort, reserve
Deep ops
tactical actions against enemy forces, typically out of direct contact with friendly forces, intended to shape future close operations and protect rear operations.
