Multi Store Model Of Memory Flashcards
Multi-store model of memory Posits that:
Memory, divided, components, sequential
Information flows from one store to the next

Evaluation
- First model that suggests memory has components
- Testable
- Pioneering
- Explains why some people with brain damage maintain some memories while others don’t
Glanzer and Cuntiz
AIM
To investigate
a) recency effect
b) if memory has two separate stores
Clanzer and cuntiz
METHOD
Condition 1: participants were asked to do a free recall task after hearing 20 words
Condition 2: participants did a filler task(count for 30sec backwards from a given number) (meant to prevent rehearsal) after hearing the words and then they did a free recall task
Glanzer and Cuntiz
RESULTS
Condition 1: primacy, recency effect
Condition 2: primacy effect
Glanzer and Cuntiz
CONCLUSION
First words get repeated more often and enter the long term memory (unaffected from the filler task) the last words are not rehearsed enough so recency effect disappears.
One of the effects disappear and the other doesn’t memory has two separate stores
