Multi-store Model Of Memory Flashcards
What are the key components of the MSM?
- Stimulus from the environment
- Sensory register
- STM
- LTM
What does the sensory register do, and what is it made up of ?
The sensory register is the part of the memory that comprises serval registers.
It is made up of ionic memory- visual memory
Echoic memory- stored acoustically (sound/hearing)
What is the duration of the sensory register like?
What is the capacity of the sensory register like?
It is very brief , a few seconds.
It has a very high capacity.
What do we need to do to keep material in our STM and eventually transferring it into our a LTM.
Maintenance rehearsal- when we repeat a piece of info over and over - says on out STM ask long as we rehearse it- eventually moves to LTM.
What does the act of retrieval do for info in the LTM.
It transfers information from the LTM into the STM so we can recall it.
