MSK Radiology Flashcards
T1 vs T2 difference in MRI (2)
- On T2=bright H2O e.g CSF
- Includes oedema
First ways to check MSK radiograph
- Patient detail
- Previous films
- AP and lateral
- Radiograph detail
- Interpretation (ABSCS)
Radiograph detail (6)
- Date
- Type
- Area of body
- Adequacy: joint above/below
- Rotation
- Penetration (exposure)
Interpretation of MSK radiograph (4) ABCS
A - alignment
B - bone fragments? fractures?
C - cartilage - joint spaces? OA?RA/gout/puesdogout?
S - soft tissue - swelling? foreign bodies? calcification?
Normal lumbar spine CT lateral (ABCS)
A - anterior vertebral and posterior vertebral column
- Capacius spinal canal + IV foramina capacious
B - Loss of vertebral height? wedge fracture? Fractures? Normal alignment and height vertebral bodies
C - cartilage:
- preserved facet joints.
- disc spaces between vertebral bodies gradually increase
- Discs preserved/no herniation or bulge
S - pre + paravertebral soft tissues normal, cauda equina and conus medullaris normal
Normal lumbar spine X-ray frontal (5)
- Sarcoiliac joints normal
- Lumbosacral spine in anatomical aligment
- Preserved disc and vertebral height
- No anterior wedging of vertebral bodies
- No splaying of posterior elements for fracture
