Persecutory Delusion
belief that one is going to be harmed (most common)
Referential delusion
belief that certain gestures, comments, environmental cues are directed at oneself.
Grandiose Delusion
belief that he/she has exceptional abilities, wealth, fame.
Erotomanic
false belief that others are in love with him/her.
Nihilistic
conviction that a major catastrophe is going to occur.
Somatic
preoccupation with physical health/organ function.
Bizarre delusion
clearly implausible/unbelievable by their culture (ie, aliens are harvesting their organs).
Thought withdrawal (delusion)
thoughts are being removed by an outside force.
Thought insertion (delusion)
thoughts are being inserted into their mind by an outside force.
Delusion of control
One’s body’s/actions are being acted on/manipulated by outside force (high risk).
5 types of hallucinations
Auditory (most common), visual, olfactory, tactile, taste.
3 types of formal thought disorder?
Derailment - switch from one topic to another.
Tangentiality - answers are obliquely related/completely unrelated.
Circumstantiality: digression into unnecessary details and inappropriate thoughts BEFORE getting to the point.
Incoherence/word salad - incomprehensible, resembling receptive aphasia.
Catatonia
Decreased reactivity to environment.
Negativism (abnormal motor behaviour)
resistance to instructions.
Mutism/stupor (abnormal motor behaviour).
rigid/inappropriate/bizarre posture, lack of verbal or motor responses.
Catatonic excitement
purposeless and excessive motor activity without obvious cause.
