mrs b and mr b Flashcards
’ but i didnt know it was you
. mrs b only regrets the nasty commenst about the mystery man when she finds out that it is her son , she was more happpy for the man to recive a punishment because she didnt knwo him
. this reflects social pre-war attitudes, people looked after themselves and theur families
. mrs b felt punishment was necessary for this man , until the man is revelaed to be eric then she changes her attitude
’ ive got to cover thsi up as soon as i can’
. he only caresa bout covering up this story so it doesnt affect his repuattaions, social status or chance of receing a knighthood
. he constantly shows a selfish self-centred attitude
. he is not concerned with the consequences of his actions
’ this makes a difference, y know in fact it makes a difference’
. as far as mr b is concerned the msot important part is that the inspector isnt a real inspector
. this vital for mr b as he knows that the story of eva smith is unlikely to end up as a scandal
. he doesnt care about the actions in the girls life
. if the inspector has no connections for the police he has no powerr to cause probhlems , so mr b is prepared to forget the whole stroy and carry on with how his life was before
’ i was the only one who didnt give in to him
. refusal to accept blame
. mrs b views this as a victroy that she didnt accept any of the blame
. she is smug and mocks the others for answering the inspectors questions
. she mocks them for feeling the guilt he was trying ot get out of them
. this emphasies her cold , uncaring and selfish nature
