What is a moving average ?
A
A form of time series analysis and it moves the data range each time

How to calculate simple moving avg
A
=avg(highlight the span) - the data range

How to calculate weighted moving avg
A
Step 1: =month x weighting for that month
Step 2: =sum of all the calculations

How to work out general trend per period
A
= Last MA - first MA / number of moving averages - 1

If there is no centre point for moving avgs what do you do ?
A
Put a mid point in by:
Inserting a colum, then number the lines and copy it down
Highlight data - data sort (sort by column A, smallest to largest)

How to work out the cantered MA ?
A
= average( one before and the one after the MA)

When do you need a centre of moving avg ?
A
When there is an even number of periods
