Movements & Maneuvers Flashcards
1
Q
Taxi
A
Rudders ONLY with brakes
Throttle gentle
Taxi below 15 knots ground
2
Q
Takeoff
A
- Maintain centerline
- Right rudder to adjust for torque and p-factor
- FULL THROTTLE
- Begin rotation at 60 knots
- Keep on right rudder
- Trim
- Level off beginning 10% of vertical speed early (e.g. 500ft per minute = 50 feet early)
- Allow airspeed to increase
- Throttle down to cruise
- Trim
3
Q
Climb
A
- Pitch up until climb speed is reached
- Throttle up to maintain
- Right rudder to counter p-factor
- Trim if needed (long climb)
- Level off beginning 10% of vertical speed early (e.g. 500ft per minute = 50 feet early)
- Allow airspeed to increase
- Throttle down to cruise
- Trim
4
Q
Descent
A
- Throttle down
- Allow nose to dip (follow lead of throttle to avoid stall)
- May need left rudder
- Trim if needed
- Level off beginning 10% of vertical speed early (e.g. 500ft per minute = 50 feet early)
- Increase throttle to cruise
- Trim
5
Q
Normal Turns
A
- Clear for turn
- Bank
- Rudder to remain coordinated
- Roll out beginning 1/2 of bank angle early
(e. g. 30 degree bank = 15 degrees early) - Use throttle and elevator as needed to maintain elevation (or increase/decrease bank angle)
6
Q
Climbing turns
A
Same as normal turns except:
-Adjust power and elevator/trim to maintain attitude and speed (don’t stall!)
-Less rudder needed on left climbs due to p-factor
(Possibly also for descending right turns)
