Soldier & Sailor Mutinies
- mutiny –> revolt (by soldiers/sailors) against their authorities
> begun after Russo-Japanese war
- lack of confidence
- seized Trans-Siberian railway
> begun again during February Revolution
- mutiny gave protestors military capability
- told to shoot the protestors –> did not agree
Socialist Revolutionaries (SR’s)
- middle (political spectrum)
- don’t believe in marxism
- thought worker’s would drive revolution
- had significant support for peasants
Bolsheviks (SD’s)
leader = Vladimir Lenin
- very left wing
- wanted immediate, violent revolution
Mensheviks (SD’s)
leader = Julias Martov
- semi left wing
- wanted a gradual, mass-based revolution
Octoberists
- very right wing
- favoured a limited constituational monarchy
- believe the need for reform
Kadets
- semi right wing
- liberal-democratic reform rather than socialist
- support for middle + upper class
- favoured British style system
