Mount Transition Escapes Flashcards

1
Q

What escape do we use when opponent is in cross-side, moves to reverse sit out position in attempt to use STEP-OVER method of mounting?

A

When opponent has moved to sit through it tells us he’s probs thinking of mounting

As he steps over and we HEAR HIS FOOT HIT THE MAT we know he will start to drive that leg to the mat
This means his weight is shifting to that side, making his rear/trail leg lighter

As he steps over we bring our knee close to the ankle of his trail leg, moving it underneath his ankle

Now we reach over with out other free leg to capture his ankle, putting us in a quasi half guard sort of position

We then elbow escape both sides

Back into guard

If after we have initially trapped the ankle and the opponent doesn’t immediately square up we can take the back, unlikely but it’s there.

When he squares up we elbow escape
