causes
Mt St. Helens lays of a part of the ring of fire. The eruption was caused by a destructive plate boundary. The Juan-de-Fuca Plate was pushed under the North American Plate. There it melted in the magma and the new magma pushed up rock of the North American Plate and because the volcano could hold all the magma that was in its magma chamber anymore, it erupted.

57 human died; a pyroclastic flow destroyed the whole north side of the volcano; the destroyed area was three times bigger than the volcano

the fishes in the spirit lake are now twice as big and heavy as before the eruption (they came from higher lakes)
