Pull over to the LEFT (HARD shoulder)
For EMERGENCIES only or when instructed to do so
If you can’t make it to the hard shoulder, put hazard lights on immediately + very carefully get out + across to hard shoulder
What should you do once on the hard shoulder in a broken down vehicle?
Get out via passenger side
Do NOT attempt to fix anything
Walk in direction of marker posters to telephone (code for location)
Face ONCOMING traffic
Call breakdown recovery
If breakdown recovery fix vehicle on hard shoulder, how do you rejoin the motorway?
Use hard shoulder as slip road
Accelerate + blend in with traffic flow
What is ERA?
