- Instruct patient to slide the heel of one foot up and down the skin of the opposite leg without touching heel on shin.

What instructions do you give to the patient?

• Patient is supine with eyes closed.

- Ask patient to touch the knee and big toe alternately with heel of opposite extremity.

How is a patient positioned for Finger to Nose?

What instructions do you give to the patient?

• Patient sitting with eyes closed.
• Ask patient to abduct shoulder to 90 degrees with elbows completely extended. Touch the tip of the index finger to the tip of the nose. Do ALTERNATING and with BOTH fingers.

How is a patient positioned for Rapid Alternating Movement - Pronation/Supination?

• Patient sitting with elbows flexed to 90 degrees and held close to body. Eyes open.
• Instruct patient to alternately turn palms up and then down, gradually increasing the speed.

• Patient sitting with eyes open.
• Ask patient to match the movement of your index finger with their index finger. Patient should fully extend arm to touch PT finger.
