- UMN and LMN signs without sensory problems
- Muscle weakness with potentially problems with speech, swallow and breathing

- Extremities 70%
- Bulbar 25%

What are therapeutic interventions for the thoracic variant of MND?
A
- Early non-invasive intubation with compensation

What must you be suspicious of should a patient present with MND type motor symptoms which were preceded by behavioural abnormalities?
A
Frontotemporal dementia

What are clinical signs of UMN problems?
A
- Spasticity
- Hyperreflexia
- Babinski sign (extensor plantar reflexes)
- Moderate weakness
- Psuedobulbar affect (uncontrollable emotional displays)

What are clinical signs of LMN problems?
A
- Severe weakness
- Fasciculations
- Muscle cramps
- Hyporeflexia
- Muscle hypotonicity and atrophy
