Motor Control Theory Hour 3 Flashcards
Multiple movement systems diagnosis - 3 that we will focus on
Fractioned movement deficit
Forced production deficit
Dysmetria
Fractioned movement deficit - main dysfunction is
inability to fractionate movement that is associated with moderate or greater hyperexcitability
Forced Production deficit - main dysfunction is
weakness that can originate from peripheral nerve, CNS, NMJ, or a muscle
Dysmetria - main dysfunction is
inability to grade forces approximately for the distance and speed aspects of a task
Benefits of neuro-movement diagnosis
It puts motor control into action
Standardization of mvmnt problems and NOT pathology
Interlinks mvmnt diagnosis with the mvmnt interventions
Can prioritize goals based on primary mvmnt diagnosis
Communication to 3rd party payers
Research
Limitations of neuro-movement diagnosis
Does not account for patient care as per patient
Goals - doesnt involve specific goals of the patient
Roles - doesnt involve patient roles in society
Souls - doesnt involve caregivers
It is not validated
No research to support for relationship with it and any standardized measures
