Motor Control Flashcards
What order is the hierachy
Motor cortex, brain stem, spinal cord
what was discovered in 1870
different areas of the frontal lobe produce movement on the other side of the body.
what role to the basal ganglia and cerebellum play in the pathway
both assess and correct ‘bad signals’ we become ‘aware’ of signal. basal ganglia feeds back to motor cortex, cerebellum usually feeds back but sometimes straight to brain stem and spinal cord.
what does LMN stand for and whats the other name?
Lower motor neuron and final common pathway
what are the extra roles the basal ganglia plays?
helps initiate and terminate movements, supresses unwanted movement, establishes a normal level of tone.
what is brodmans area 4?
primary motor cortex, elicits movement with the lowest stimulation.
Where is the primary motor cortex?
before the central sulcus in cerebral cortex.
