What is Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Client centered, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving client ambivalence (conflicting reactions, beliefs or feelings)

Process of establishing a trusting and mutually respectful relationship
Ensure client feels welcome, comfortable, understood
