Workers can choose how to complete a task
What does a theory X manager think?
That employees are: unmotivated, lazy and unambiguous
What does a theory Y manager think?
They: trust their staff, think workers are motivated, can organise themselves
Advantages of autocratic leadership?
Effective in times of emergency, tasks are completed on time
What is laissez-faire leadership?
Leader that makes fewer decisions and allows workers to make their own
Allows workers to be creative
Disadvantages of laissez-faire?
Workers may feel that managers don’t care about what is going on
What is paternalistic leadership?
Similar to autocratic but cares for the welfare of staff
