What is a free morpheme?

It changes the grammatical status of a word
E.g. slow —> slower
What is a bound inflectional morpheme?
Changes the function of the word-plurals, tense, negatives, person
E.g. tree —> trees

What is a proper noun?
Names, places, people, organisations, days/months
What are common abstract nouns?
Ideas/ concepts, can’t be physically perceived e.g. hope,happiness
What are common concrete count nouns?
Physical object, can take BIM/ ‘s’ on the end
What are common concrete mass nouns?
Can’t take an ‘s’ in the end e.g. bread, butter
What is a superlative?
Highest amount of something
What is a lexical verb?
May function as the only verb in a sentence

What is an auxiliary verb?
Helper verbs
E.g. ‘the boy IS diving’
