Young was a good organiser and every now and then a camp was built for those who would follow.

Land was given according to what you could farm and how many people were in the family, water was collected at a given time by each family.

Missionaries were sent to Europe to gain converts, it paid for their pass to America

School- poorly equipped, parents didn’t want to send children there as needed them on farm.
What happened during the Mormon War?
US government thought it needed to assert authority, troops sent but held back by Mormons till winter meaning they had to camp in Fort Bridger
What did the Gentiles do to promote Mountain Meadow Massacre?
Abused converted Indians, released cattle into Mormon field, called women ‘whore’
Why was it a massacre?
Wanted to kill them so news of other men in the party they had killed didn’t spread
