Moral principles Flashcards
What are more principles
The general guidelines or values that guide ethical behaviour and decision-making.
These principles are often used to elevate the rightness or wrongness of an action or behaviour, and can be used to guide moral reasoning and judgement.
What are the 4 types of moral principles
Autonomy:
– emphasises the importance of respecting individuals’ freedom and right to make their own choices. (refusing treatment).
Non-maleficence:
– states that one should not cause harm or injury to others.
Beneficence:
– states that one should act to promote the well-being of others. This principle emphasises the importance of taking positive steps to help others, rather than simply refraining from causing harm.
– our actions should aim to benefit people
