A
Based on symptoms present
- Mild: 2 core + 2 other
- Moderate: 2 core + 3/4 other
- Severe: 3 core + >4 other
- Severe + Psychosis: 3 core + >4 other + psychosis

A
Diagnostic questionnaires
- PHQ-9, HADS
Blood tests
- look for biological cause of symptoms (esp endo)

What general treatment options are there for depression
A
- Biological: Antidepressants (SSRIs 1st line)
- Psycho: CBT
- Social: Social support groups

- Watchful waiting
- CBT (first line)
- SSRIs (if long term/PMH of depression)
