Episodic shifts into mania, major depression, hypomania and/or mixed states.
Biopolar
Both Depressive and manic episodes. Manic episode lasting 1 week Also see increase in self-esteem, decreased need for sleep, talkative, flight of ideas, distractibility, increase goal directed activity, activities w/ high potential for consequence
Bipolar I
Maladaptive behavior in response to stress Anxiety or depression in run to an identifiable stress. Adaptive capacity of individual overwhelmed. Event may be insignificant when objectively considered
Adjustment disorder
Recurring major depression with seasonal onset and remission
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Depressive and hypomanic Elevated, expansive or irritable mood for at least 4 days. Also see increase in self-esteem, decreased need for sleep, talkative, flight of ideas, distractibility, increase goal directed activity, activities w/ high potential for consequence
Bipolar II
Depressed mood for most of the day, for more days than not, for at least 2years AND at least two common depression symptoms
Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia)
