Monitoring Anesthesia Flashcards
What does a Capnograph measure?
Measures end-tidal (Et) and inhaled (Fi) CO2 levels
What is the normal value for inhaled (Fi) CO2 level?
0
This means the patient should not be inhaling ANY CO2
Anything above 0 indicates the equipment is faulty/ leaking
What is the normal range for end-tidal (Et) CO2 levels?
5.3 +/- 0.5 kPa (35-45 mmHg)
A Systolic BP < 90 mmHg is bad because?
Renal autoregulation is lost
A Diastolic BP < 40 mmHg is bad because?
Myocardial perfusion is inadequate
A Mean Arterial BP < 60 or >160 mmHg is bad because?
Brain autoregulation is lost
A Mean Arterial BP < 70 mmHg is bad in the horse because?
Equine myopathy is at risk of occurring
What is normal urine output?
1 -2 mls/kg/hr
