What are the codes and conventions of the heist genre?
-masks, weapons, set in banks, casinos, duffle bags, outfits to blend in->often seen in the Heist genre
-stealing, burglary
-shows binary oppositions
-hybrid->crime, comedy/gangster->Money Heist is more gangster (heist)
What are the codes and conventions of the heist genre to do with characters?
-protagonist usually goes into the building quietly but then something goes wrong and the police get involved
-the protagonists are the robbers and the antagonists are the police
-characters->often a mastermind/chief, computer genius, the hot head/slipper upper/doesn’t think things through, love aspect (usually causes things to go wrong), family connection
What are the codes and conventions about the narrative of the heist genre?
-narrative structure (Todorov)->heist->something always goes wrong and at the end there is some sort of confrontation in relation to the law vs order
-planning and shows how their plan wants to go ahead->audience see the plan but some plans aren’t shown->some is revealed some isn’t

-Tokyo->cautious->the series (1) is mainly from her perspective

-Berlin->creepy but seems like a good mind player

father and son

-Moscow - Denver (father and son)->don’t really think but are good for the missions

-Helsinki/Oslo (Serbs=nickname)->gun men->’stereotype’ of Serbian men that they’ll do anything without remorse and just do as they are told

-she is somewhat crazy and could do anything without remorse

-he is the mastermind behind the heist and is very smart

-Rio->computer genius/hacker and can stop alarms

-does what she is told and doesn’t (like) put feelings into it
-she tries to keep her feeling separate from the mission
What is your impression of Nairomi after watching?
-she seems unpredictable but has a caring side when she tries to calm a hostage
