Why is it so famous?
A
First painting so realistic. Most paintings up until then were flat looking profiles. Also took into account the atmospheric perspective (making it hazy in the background). Was also involved in a heist where it was stolen in 1911. Perugia (thief) tried to sell it to an art dealer a long time after stealing it and the dealer called the police. #LollesVILLE
