Q

Answer this question: 1.17g of sodium chloride was dissolved in water to make 500cm3 of solution. What is the concentration of solution in moldm-3

A

Concentration of solution (moldm-3) = number of moles ÷ volume (dm3)

number of moles = mass ÷ mass of one mole

1.17 ÷ (23 + 35.5) NaCl = 0.02

concentration = 0.02 ÷ (500 ÷ 1000)

concentration = 0.04 moldm-3
