Procedure (coarse grind)
A
- verify instrument kicked out
- check collection drawer to verify plastic liner is in place and empty
- sample delivery plate jn, place small amount (3-4 scoops) of sample into hopper and on delivery plate
- carefully close hopper lid and secure latch
- remove lock, flip lever and press start
- slowly pull sample delivery plate to allow come into sample area done to remove any coke residue from previous sample
- when coke ground press stop, and place in lockout mod•open collection drawer and discard coarse ground coke. Close collection drawer
- slide sample delivery plate closed and dump remaining coke into hopper
- repeat grinding steps
- open collection drawer and using scoop, mix coarse coke fully and form mound in center of pan, dividing into four equal sections
- use a clean 4 ounce tin to remove one scoop of come from each quarter mound
- place coke in oven at 105*C for 90minutes stirring occasionally to ensure even drying
- dump remainder of coke into bucket
- open hopper kid and scoop out large deposits of coke in grinder
- place dryer and allow it to dry for 1-2hrs
- remove dryer, run grinder, lockout and vacuum the hopper

Procedure (fine grind)
A
- shake dried coarse ground come through 60 mesh sieve
- verify collection tray at bottom of fine grinder and delivery plate closed
- remove lock and start adding small amount of 60 mesh sieve into fine grinder and slowly open delivery plate
- when coke done grinding press stop
- open collection drawer and discard coarse ground coke
- place sample delivery plate and run remainder of 60 mesh sieve coke to plate, press start,
- carefully place sample back into 60mesh sieve and shake until fines in bottom pan
- take fines and place in tin can labeled with the cut of the coke

Procedure for drying oven method
A
- prepare using coarse and fine grinder
* precondition crucibles using 105*C oven. When cool, weigh (nearest 0.1) up and use weight as B weight

Purpose
A
Determine reasonable measure of moisture in green petirleun come using Drying Oven Method. Term green coke refers to potentially anode quality coke that still contains moisture and volatile matter. Amount of moisture in coke is especially important since it is purchased and sold by weight and water adds weight to coke
