What is a crime scene?
An area/place where you reasonably suspect that a crime scene/serious incident may have occurred
Why is it important to investigate?
Scene is a focal point of the investigation and it is here that valuable physical evidence is most likely found
How many times can you establish a crime scene in the same premises?
ONE – if you want another one you need a really good reason for a crime scene warrant unless It is a separate offence, you can go back without a warrant for a difference incident
How long can you exercise crime scene powers?
a. Rural = 6 hours
b. Everywhere else = 4 hours
What is Section 11, 12, 13 & 19?
• 11 = Identity of unknown may be required to be disclosed (Witness)
• 12 = If you fail, charged
• 13 = False or misleading identity
• 19 = request but no offence
