Module 9 and 10 Flashcards
Circumference
The distance around a circle.
Area
The number of square units needed to cover a given surface.
Diameter
A line segment that passes through the center of a circle and has endpoints on the circle.
Height
The perpendicular distance from the base to the opposite vertex.
Perimeter
The distance around a polygon.
Radius
A line segment with one endpoint at the center of the circle on the other endpoint on the circle.
Cone
A three dimensional figure that has one vertex and one circular base.
Cylinder
A three dimensional figure that has two congruent circular bases.
Sphere
A three dimensional figure with all points the same distance from the center.
Base
A side of a polygon; a face of a three-dimensional figure by which the figure is measured or classified.
Face
An individual surface of a solid object.
Prism
A polyhedron that has two congruent bases that are polygons. All other faces are rectangles.
Rectangular Prism
A three-dimensional figure in which six faces are rectangles.
Triangular Prism
A polyhedron whose bases are triangles and whose other faces are rectangles.
Lateral surface area
The sum of the areas of a prism or pyramid not including the bases.
