Module 7 Unit 1 Flashcards
What are the six trigonometry ratios
Sin(op/hyp), cosec(hyp/op), tan(op/adj), cot(adj/op), cos(adj/hyp), sec(hyp/adj)
What is the importance of the unit circle and it’s four quadrants
The unit circle is a circle placed on a coordinate system of axis and a radius of one. When a coordinate on the circumference is placed it forms a right triangle. The four quadrants show us where the trig values will be negative and positive
Which mnemonic is used to remember the signs of the functions
A.S.T.C
all functions
Sec & cosec
Tan & cot
Cos & sec
How is right angled triangles solved with trigonometric functions
When working with trigonometric functions there are three variables as long as you have 2 you can simply solve for X
How do you solve unkown height questions with trig
Unkown height questions are simply trig functions where the missing variable is the unkown height
What is meant by a co-function
A co-function is simply the inverse of its function e.g. cosec is simply the inverse of sin
What is meant by a vertice
A vertice is the corner of a triangle
What is the importance of a reference angle
A reference angle Is the angle that you choose to define the ratios in a triangle. This defines which sides are op and which side is adj
