Module 5 Flashcards
To determine which elements to use and how to arrange them into patterns
Interior Design Process
Interior Design Process
Analyze - Synthesize - Evaluate
The ability to define and understand the nature of the design problem adequately as
an essential part of the solution
Analyze
The design problem is first defined
Analyze
Involves also gathering of relevant information that may help in the understanding of
the nature of the problem and therefore, develop appropriate solutions
Analyze
Guide questions on getting relevant information:
(Analyze)
- What exists?
- What’s desired?
Set goals:
(Analyze)
What’s possible?
What can be altered
What can be controlled
What is allowed
Define limits: Time; economic; legal; & technical
Develop Hypothesis – make projections
Analyze
bringing together and integrating responses to the various issues and aspects of
the problem into coherent solutions
Synthesis
Approaches on Synthesizing
- Isolate 1 or 2 key issues which have value or importance assigned to
them, and develop solutions around them - Study analogous situations and use them as models for developing
possible solutions to the problem at hand - Develop ideal solutions for parts of the problem which can then be
tempered by the reality of what exists
Design requires rational thought based on knowledge and understanding gained
through experience and research
Synthesis
It also involves lot of intuition and imagination that adds to the creative dimension to
the rational design process
Synthesis
Simulate possibilities
Synthesis
Select the parts
Synthesis
Generate ideas
