Confucianism:

Desire to restore, order and moral living of earlier times to society
Believed social order, harmony, and good government could be restored in China if society were organized around 5 basic relationships (ruler and subject, father and son, husband and wife, older and younger brother, and friend and friend)

How fits into Chinese history: it was a foundation of Chinese government and social order and ideas spread beyond China to throughout E Asia
Daoism:

Gov. Should use the law to end civil disorder and restore harming
Punishments are useful to maintain social order
Thinkers and their ideas should be strictly controlled by the gov.
