Whom does HIPAA cover?
All persons working in a healthcare facility or private office

* Non-patient care employees
* Health plans (e.g., insurance companies)
* Billing companies
* Electronic medical record companies
Why was HIPAA established?
To focus of the statute is to create confidentiality systems within and beyond healthcare facilities
Having a goal of keeping protected health information private.
What are basic HIPAA goals?
- To limit the use of protected health information to those with a “need to know”
- To penalize those who do not comply with confidentiality regulations
as mandated by law, this is the country’s highest policy-making and coordinating body on nutrition.

What is a Genome?
A genome is an organism’s complete set of DNA, including all of its genes; or the full complement of genetic material in the chromosomes of a cell.
What is nutritional genomics?
Nutrigenomics or ‘nutritional genomics’ – is the study of all the genetic factors that influence the biological response to diet and the impact diet has on gene expression. It is also the study of dietary effects on gene expression.
