Principle of Constructive Alignment
Assessment methods can be classified as two;
Traditional and Authentic
Thus refers to the usual paper-and-pencil test
Traditional assessment method
This refers to non-paperand-pencil test. It is also called alternative assessment, it being an alternative to the traditional.
Authentic Assessment
It falls under non-paper-and pencil test. It is a purposeful collection of student work or documented performance (e.g. video of dance) that tells the story of student achievement or growth.
Portfolio

- Working or Development Portfolio
- Display, Showcase or Best Works Portfolios
- Assessment or Evaluation Portfolio
It it is a project “in the works,” containing work in progress as well as finished samples of work. It demonstrates an individual’s development and growth over time.
Working or Development Portfolio
It is the display of the students’ best work.
Display, Showcase or Best Works Portfolios
It’s main purpose is to document what a student has learned based on the standards and competencies expected of students at each grade level.
Assessment or Evaluation Portfolio
It is a coherent set of criteria for students’ work that includes descriptions of levels of performance quality on the criteria.
Rubric
It’s main purpose is to assess performance made evident in processes and products
