Module 3 Flashcards
He identified three domains of educational activities: Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor
Benjamin Bloom
It is referring to mental skills
Cognitive
It is referring to growth in feeling or emotion
Affective
It is referring to manual or physical skills.
Psychomotor
He reviewed the cognitive domain objectives and effected some changes.
Lorin Anderson
The two most prominent changes Lorin Anderson added into the cognitive domain objectives.
(a) changing the names in the six subdivisions from noun to verb and; (b) re-arranging the order of the last two synthesis and evaluation.
THE SIX CATEGORIES OF COGNITIVE DOMAIN
Knowledge
Comprehension
Application
Analysis
Synthesis
Evaluation
Domain in Bloom’s taxonomy that includes the ability of the learner to recall data or information.
Knowledge
Domain in Bloom’s taxonomy which assesses the ability of the learner to understand the meaning of what is known
Comprehension
Domain in Bloom’s taxonomy which shows the ability of the student to use the abstract knowledge in a new situation.
Application
This domain category aims to differentiate facts and opinions.
Analysis
This domain category shows the ability to integrate different elements or concepts in order to form a sound pattern or structure to help establish a new meaning.
Synthesis
This domain shows the ability to come up with judgments about the importance of concepts.
Evaluation
Making judgments based on criteria and standards through checking and critiquing.
Evaluating
Combining elements to form a coherent or functional whole; This process is the most difficult mental function in the new taxonomy.
Creating
In the revised cognitive taxonomy, Anderson and Krathwohl identified 4 levels of knowledge, What are the 4 levels of knowledge?
Factual Knowledge
Conceptual Knowledge
Procedural Knowledge
Metacognitive Knowledge
Knowledge that refers to facts.
Factual Knowledge
Knowledge that refers to the interrelationship of facts. It is fact put together within a larger structure that enables them to function together.
Conceptual Knowledge
This is knowing how to do something, which refers to information or knowledge that helps students to do something specific to a discipline, subject, or area of study.
Procedural Knowledge
This is knowing that you know. This is thinking about your thinking in a purposeful way. It is awareness and knowledge of one’s cognition.
Metacognitive Knowledge
They recommended categories for the Psychomotor Domain which included physical coordination, movement, and use of motor skills and body parts.(3 persons)
E. Simpson, Dave, and A.S. Harrow
What are the 4 Simplified and Re-organized Categories or Levels of Learning in the Psychomotor Domain
Observing
Imitating
Practicing
Adapting
Domain in Psychomotor that requires active mental attention to a physical activity. Ex; watch a more experienced person; observe and read directions
Observing
Domain in Psychomotor that the learner is attempting to copy a physical behavior
Imitating
Domain in Psychomotor that the learner is performing a specific activity repeatedly
Practicing
Domain in Psychomotor that the learner is fine tuning the skill and making minor adjustments to attain perfection
Adapting
It included physical coordination, movement, and use of motor skills and body parts.
Psychomotor Domain
The ________ refers to the way in which we deal with situations emotionally such as feelings, appreciation, enthusiasm, motivation, values and attitude.
Affective Domain
5 LEVELS OF COGNITIVE DOMAIN in chronological order
- Receiving
- Responding
- Valuing
- Organizing
- Internalizing
This level of cognitive domain requires being aware or sensitive to something and being willing to listen or pay attention
Receiving
In this level of Cognitive domain, the learner showing commitment to respond in some measure to the idea or phenomenon
Responding
In this level of Cognitive Domain, the learner showing willingness to be perceived as valuing or favoring certain ideas
Valuing
In this level of Cognitive Domain, the learner is arranging values into priorities, creating a unique value system by comparing, relating and synthesizing
Organizing
In this level of Cognitive Domain, the learner is practicing value system that controls one’s behavior, exhibiting behavior that is consisted pervasive, predictable and characteristics of the person.
Internalizing
