Module 3 Cardiovascular, Hypertension Flashcards
What are the parameters for acceptable ETT?
METs >6
; HR > 85% MPHR (unless beta-blocked)
; SBP rise > 20 mmHg w/o angina
; No significant ST depression
What are parameters for acceptable echocardiogram?
LVEF greater than or equal to 40%
;No pulmonary HTN
What is the waiting period post-MI?
2 months
What are parameters are needed for certification post-MI?
asymptomatic ; tolerates medications ; satisfactory ETT ; LVEF greater than or equal to 40% ; no ECG changes ; cardiologist clearance
What is waiting period for pulmonary emboli?
May certify if no PE at least 3 months
What are parameters for certification for pulmonary embolus?
no PE in at least 3 month
; on appropriate tx
; regulated at least 1 month on warfarin
; monthly INR done
What is waiting period for stable angina pectoris?
minimum 3 months with no rest angina or change in anginal pattern
What are the parameters for certification with stable angina pectoris?
stable angina ; asymptomatic ; tolerates medications ; cardiologist clearance ; satisfactory ETT biennially
What is waiting period for PCI?
One week
What are the parameters for certification post-PCI?
asymptomatic ; tolerates medications ; no injury to vascular access site ; no ischemic ECG changes ; needs ETT 3-6 months post-PCI
What is certification period for post-PCI?
Initially certify for up to 6 months, then maximum of 1 year thereafter
What is waiting period for post-CABG?
At least 3 months
What are the parameters for certification post-CABG?
asymptomatic
; tolerates medication w/o orthostatic sx
; LVEF greater than or equal to 40%
; cardiologist clearance
; healed sternum
; biennial ETT beginning 5 years post-CABG.
Define mild, moderate, severe aortic stenosis.
mild AS: AVA > 1.5cm2
; moderate AS: AVA , greater than or equal to 1.0 - 1.5 cm2
; severe AS: AVA < 1.0 cm2
What are the parameters for certification for mild AS?
Annual certification if asymptomatic and with echocardiogram Q5years
