module 3 Flashcards

1
Q

what is a population

A

Q

What is bias

A

the values of a sample are centered around values other than the true population parameter

note that an unbias sample will ensure that all members of a population of an equal chance to be included

Q

what is precision

A

The act of obtaining a repeatable estimate

note that increases sample size will increase precision, but will don’t impact the bias of the sample

inprecision is a form of sampling error

6
Q

what is a nonindependent sample?

A

this means that the selection of one remember in a sample influences the selection of the next member

this will commonly cause the illusion that a sample size is smaller than it actually is (it generates a false sense of precision)
