Module 2: Needs Assessment Approaches Flashcards
What are the basic factors that shape your design?
The factors that shape instructional design are:
- Using an Open System approach
- Organizational Objectives and Outcomes
- Learner focused
- The Learning Environment
- Constraints
- The technological ecosystem
What is a system in business?
A systems is to structure a step by step process that is of any aspect of a business that is completed on a regular basis. Part of the system can be automated or outsourced. The purpose is to streamline the process to accomplish an objective with the optimal amount of time, expense, and effort.
What is an open system?
An open system interacts with its environment. Healthy open systems continuously exchange feedback with their environments, analyze that feedback, adjust internal systems as needed to achieve the system’s goals, and then transmit necessary information back out to the environment.
Critical aspects of an open system include the
boundaries, external environment and equifinality.
How to boundaries impact an open system?
All systems have boundaries, although the boundaries can be difficult to identify because systems
can be very dynamic. Open systems have porous boundaries through which useful feedback can
readily be exchanged and understood.
How does the external environment impact an open system?
External environment Influences can be political,
economic, ecological, societal and technological in nature. A business with an open system is aware of the external influences, can adjust accordingly, and often tries to influence those forces.
What is Equifinality?
Equifinality means that there is more than one way to accomplish a goal.
How does open system thinking impact instructional design?
Open system thinking is initially accomplished through completing a needs assessment with the input of stakeholders.
