Module 1: Instructional Design Models Flashcards
What is Instructional Design?
n
What is ADDIE?
ADDIE is an Instructional Design model that uses a systematic design process. It stands for:
Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation
What is SAM?
SAM stands for Successive Approximation Model. It is an iterative and incremental development process where requirements and learning solutions evolve through collaboration between stakeholders.
It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development, and encourages rapid and flexible response to change.
What is AGILE?
The Agile approach recognizes the need for collaboration, faster design solutions, feedback and change for producing business value in our ever faster and more networked society.
To achieve an adaptive and people-oriented process, a strategy is implemented that allows collaboration among the designers, business unit (customer), learners, exemplary performers and/or SMEs, and other interested parties.
Phases of the AGILE model include Plan, Orientate, Design, Select, Iterate, & Review.
What are the 6D’s of Breakthrough Learning?
The approach describes six disciplines (the 6Ds®) that provide a road map for optimizing the business impact of training. The emphasis is on the transfer of training to the improved performance of the worker and the resultant financial return. The 6D's are: Define business outcomes Design the complete process Deliver for application Drive learning transfer Deploy support Document results
What is Design Thinking?
Design thinking stems from a product development approach to solving problems. In a training context it’s phases include:
- Receiving the problem or request
- getting perspective
- refining problem
- ideate
- prototype
- iterate = test &refine - develop - pilot - refine
- Implement
What is the Virtual Training Design Model?
The Virtual Training Design Model is a three-step design process for interactive virtual training classes from virtual facilitation expert Cindy Huggett. This approach ensures that there are engaging learning activities aligned to every learning objective to create an interactive virtual environment. It’s steps are:
- Select best format for each learning objective
- Shape appropriate learning activities
- Structure Logical Flow
What are modalities in training and development?
modalities are the vehicles through which training is provided, such as formal classroom training, virtual classroom training, blended learning, online learning, and informal approaches.
What is the Analysis phase of ADDIE?
The Analysis phase of ADDIE is often referred to as the Training Needs Assessment. This involves:
• definition of organizational and individual performance results
• identifying performance measures for the competencies/tasks to be trained
• identifying skill/knowledge requirements
• determining level of instruction needed based on performer analysis
• creating an evaluation strategy for the training.
What is the Design phase of ADDIE?
The Design phase of ADDIE is Creation of a training strategy that includes:
• learning objectives for each competency/task
• assessments/tests to show mastery of the tasks
• training prerequisites
• sequence and structure of topics and lessons
• selection of instructional delivery media/methods.
What is the Development phase of ADDIE?
The Development phase of ADDIE is Production activity that includes creating:
• participant learning materials (workbooks, practices, case studies, programmed e-learning)
• facilitator guide (where appropriate)
• visual aids (wall charts, PowerPoint slides, etc.)
• test of materials (pilot test).
What is the Implementation phase of ADDIE?
The Implementation phase of ADDIE is Putting the training into action, including:
• an implementation plan for conducting the training
• conducting the training.
What is the Evaluation phase of ADDIE?
The Evaluation phase of ADDIE is Review and revision, including:
• review and evaluation of each ADDIE phase to ensure it is accomplishing what it needs to
• evaluation of the instructional effectiveness of the training through assessments, observation of performance on the job, and measurement
of organizational impact
• revision of the training system.
Define iterative.
Iteration is the repetition of a process.
What are the phases of the SAM model?
The phases of the SAM model are:
Preparation phase
Iterative Design phase
Iterative Development phase
