According to section 5 of the said memorandum order, a graduate of BSMT/ BSMLS can be any of the following:
a. Licensed MT/ MLS
b. Diagnostic Molecular Scientists
c. Research Scientists
d. Educators
e. Diagnostic Product Specialists
f. Public Health Practitioners
g. Healthcare Leaders
The same section also states an MT/MLS graduate may practice in any of the following allied medical fields:
a. Public Health/Epidemiology
b. Veterinary Laboratory Science
c. Molecular Biology/Biology
d. Nuclear Science
e. Forensic Science
f. Health Administration/Management
g. Food and Industrial Microbiology
Qualifications of the members of the Board of Examiners (based on R.A. 5527):
a. Filipino citizen
b. Of good moral character
c. Qualified pathologist (for the chairman) , or a duly registered medical technologist (for the members)
d. Has been in practice of laboratory medicine or medical technology for at least ten years to his appointment
e. Not a member of the faculty of any medical technology school for at least two (2) years prior to appointment
Term (based on R.A. 5527):
a. **Chairman and the members of the board shall hold office for 3 years after appointment **or until their successors shall have been appointed and duly qualified: provided, that the incumbent members will continue to serve until the expiration of their terms
b. In case of death, disability or removal of a member of the board, his/ her successor
shall serve only the balance of his/ her term

c. Individuals who graduated from some other profession but have been performing
medical technology for the last 5 years prior to the date of the examinations, if the
performance began prior to June 21, 1969 were also given permission to take the
board examination
