Module 12 Flashcards
Frontal Lobes
Right behind the forehead.
Involved in SPEACH, MUSCLE MOVEMENT, PLANNING AND JUDGMENT (Gage…)
Parietal Lobes
Located at the top and rear top of cerebral cortex. RECEIVES SENSORY INPUT FOR TOUCH AND BODY POSITION
Occipital Lobes
Portion of cerebral cortex located at the very back the head. RECEIVES VISUAL INFORMATION
Temporal Lobes
Portion of cerebral cortex above the ears. AUDITORY
Motor Cortex
An area at the rear of the FRONTAL lobes that control VOLUNTARY MOVEMENT (sends messages to body parts to move)
Cognitive Neural Prosthetics
Prosthetics are programs to move in certain ways when the brain area which correlates to that movement is active.
Somatosensory Cortex
An area at the front of the parietal lobes that specializes in receiving information from the skins senses. Touch, temperature, no and movement.
Associative Areas
Most of the cortex is not specialized to correspond to one primary function; these intermediate areas are invoked in learning, remembering, thinking, and speaking.
Prefrontal Cortex
Enables judgment, planning, and processing of new memories. (PHINEAS GAGE)
