4 region plan
a method of dividing the abdomen into regions containing the upper left and right quadrants and the lower left and right quadrants
9 region plan
a method of dividing the abdomen into regions containing the right hypochondriac, epigastric, left hypochondriac, right lumbar, umbilical, left lumbar, right inguinal (iliac), hypogastric, and left inguinal (iliac) regions.
Hypochondriac
Contains part of the liver, part of the right kidney, greater omentum, coils of small intestine, gallbladder. The left hypochondriac region contains part of the liver, stomach, fundus, cardiac regions, spleen, pancreas, left colic splenic flexure, part of the left kidney, and greater omentum.
Epigastric
Contains the stomach including the cardiac and pyloric openings. Portion of the liver, duodenum, pancreas, suprarenal glands and parts of the kidneys, and greater omentum
Lumbar
